ThinkPad microphone not working

Hi, For the last 2 weeks the microphone on my ThinkPad has stopped working. At first I thought the volume levels must have gone down, but I see using alsamixer they are all normal. I'm using F16. My understanding of alsa is rather limited, Anyone has any ideas how I can troubleshoot

Microphone Int's configuration is lost after a reboot

Dear All, In the mixer configuration panel, I have set the Mic Int level to the maximum possible. This works fine during the same session, but, when I reboot the laptop, I get the “Mic Int” set to the minimum level. Is this a bug or simply a feature? I am using F16 x64 and XFCE. Thanks in advance
