A recent BIOS update (1.14.2) has resolved the issue.

My Dell systems did something similar. On this one, the EFI Fedora entry
(Boot0001) had
been replaced with what is now (after renaming) Boot0003 below. A recent
BIOS update
made Boot0003 the default, but I got the system to boot by manually
entering the original
Boot0001. Now:

All my server installs use the exact same boot mechanism as my desktops.
e.g. UEFI shim -> grub -> kernel -> happy user

I normally use the server netinstall ISO, as it avoids installing all
the packages only to replace them immediately with the first "dnf
update".
F40 was originally installed and I used the laptop for a month or two.

I recently updated the BIOS on a new Dell XPS 16 running Fedora 40.
Prior to the update everything was working fine. After the update,
grub displays the boot menu and indicates it is booting the default
entry, then...nothing.
I have performed the following tests and/or remedial actions:

You don't reinstall it. The problem almost certainly is that the firmware
update blew away the contents of NVRAM,

Maybe you just need to change the boot order?
If not, the next steps vary

If not, the next steps vary depending on how you installed. U
I updated the BIOS on an acer EFI laptop. Now there's no grub boot menu,
it just boots to W 8.1.
How do I reinstall grub ?

I have a Precision M65 (not M6500, the older M65, essentially a souped-up
Lattitude D820); using the Dell repository (much of which is already in Fedora
14, except for the BIOS's themselves) the BIOS update was painless, from Fedora.

That bios update can be done from DOS:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R295450&SystemID=PREC_M6500&servicetag=&os=RHEL5&osl=en&deviceid=21048&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=4&catid=1&impid=-1&fo
Apologies if this has been discussed, I couldn't find it.
I have a single boot FC14 system on a Dell precision M6500 precision
notebook and wish to update the BIOS.
I go to the Dell download site, and for my machine select the closest match
to my operating system: RH Enterprise Linux 5.
