Instead of compiling the tool you should install it from the official
Fedora repository.

I'm fairly certain that laptop does have a Broadcom 43xx wireless
adapter, but you can check with ’lspci’.
There are instructions for downloading and installing firmware for
that adapter here:

Google is of no help, there is some info for Fedora 13-14-15 but this is
cryptic, unhelpful and relates to a Broadcom modem.. We have a Thompson
Gateway TG782T.
