the following result:
[bobg@Workstation-2 ~]$ pavucontrol
Connection to pulse
Pulse gets it right with youtube and plays them with the Video settings.
However, it plays VLC or SMPlayer or whatever with the music settings.
Any idea how to correct this?

I just installed skype on an F16 system and plugged in my USB headset. Since
I'm
using pulseaudio the only selection for audio devices within skype was pulse.
However my USB headset wasn't being used and it didn't seem select able.
I found that when I had skype running and using the "echo test"

Start pulse audio service
$>pulseaudio --start
