Disable presto if you are on a fast connection.
It can at times takes longer to rebuild than to
download a full package.

Thanks for the help so far everyone! I have done a lot of purging and
cleaning according to the tips above, and I am going to see if it has
changed over the coming days...it does look better at first glance :)
