Yes, I do have my system set up not to require the password for
sudo. It is faster than constantly having to type it, time and
again. System installation is hell without it ;-)

I opened a second tab in konsole and immediately ran sudo su to

In ~/.bash_profile, I have umask=002, since I want directories
(files) to have the permission 755 (644).
Until Fedora 25, this worked perfectly.
Now, in Fedora 26, directories (files) are created with the
permission 775 (664).
When I run umask, it returns 0002.

I read about a shell variable called HISTIGNORE that is supposed to prevent

I put the following line into ~/.bash_profile:

It's not working. I still have duplicate commands galore. Why isn't is working?

My system has been working fine. I noticed that the input method selector
showed
that no input method was in use. I also noticed that ibus was recommended, so I
decided to enable it. I logged out and back in, as directed.
I haven't got a clue what the advantage is and I don't see any difference

On the old system:
usermod -g 1000 username
usermod -u 1000 username
Then run:
chown -R username:username directory
