Switchdesk functionality has disappeared

Fedora 36 booting mode 3 to a command line boot, the switchdesk entry Plasma doesn't do anything. I can switch from the default Gnome to xfce and back. The LXDE desktop is not there at all. Getting a xterm with xinit and all the desktop sessions can be started. Booting with a display manager ha

So, I have found that the following works semi-reliably. I hibernate, with the external monitor on and connected, and the system goes down. THen, when I resume, I do not switch on the external monitor until the system comes back up (and it does). After it is up, I switch on the external monitor
