Check that the drive actually is faulty before discarding it.
Filesystem corruptions can happen without it being the drive's fault.

I just installed exfat-utils and I'm trying to format a 16GB microSD card:
$ sudo mkfs.exfat /dev/sdb1
mkexfatfs 1.3.0
Creating... done.
Flushing... done.
File system created successfully.
But it actually doesn't do anything. All the old files are still on the SD
card.

Using Fedora 30. Kernel 5.2.9-200.fc30.x86_64. After reboots, zfs-fuse doesn't
start correctly and the zpool is not imported. After patching, I've actually
had to change permission in my home directory so I could log into Gnome. Anyone
else run across this?

The cheap card I bought is a gt710/730 with gddr5 (4 or 3 does not
have the encoder), this card is rated at 8x real time 1080 but I don't
