with the 4.16.x kernels suspend works perfect on my ThinkPad x230i.
But with the 4.17.x kernels this has stopped working. Screen is
blanked but the system does not suspend.
My current kernel parameters read
net.ifnames=0 selinux=0 quiet acpi_backlight=vendor
thinkpad-acpi.brightness_ena
I've never seen additional output before but when I remoted in to my F28
desktop I got the following:

I am surprised to hear that Adobe works, I mean in my case it crashes as
soon as I use the File/open option both on an Intel machile and an AMD
machine. It worls if I run it from a terminal >acroread name_of_file.pdf.
And I followed same instructions
