Harddisk health: smartmonitor instant alert available?

Hi, When new packages are available, the gnome-packagers gives me an instant alert in the panel bar, informing me of new packages. I would like a similar alert when smartd discovers problems with my hard disks. Is there something in the yum repository, which does this? Thank you! Rob.
