The application server has a plugin for apache and that has been installed
in the apache .
Apache is able to talk to the weblogic using http but not using https.

This is an SSL handshake coming in over a non-SSL virtualhost. In
isolation your vhost looked correct, can you include
apachectl/httpd/apache2ctl -S output?
