httpd restarted then reported 2457 instances of:
mod_fcgid: can't apply process slot
in 8 hours, then stopped reporting them. Before the restart it had
been up 87 days without reporting this error. The configuration files
did not change before the restart nor after.
Another weird thing
The system error log (not the logs for the sites) recently had a
number of instances of
the stuff just below. Does anyone recognize it? How did it get there?

f memory. Lots of processes, httpd and

Restarting stops the explosion of clients and all returns to as it was.
The first time it happened I searched for causes, marked it as a
quirk, but it happened again yesterday.

One of our web sites, http://birdchautauqua.org, returns the index page but
http://www.birdchautauqua.org returns a listing of the index instead. They
both point to the same files of course.
Oddly, when I use Lynx instead of Firefox, Lynx returns a directory listing
first but on refresh returns
