I'm not sure what the status is but rotation has never worked for me from 7.10.
acpi_listen receives the
ibm/hotkey HKEY 0080 5009
ibm/hotkey HKEY 0080 500a
and /etc/acpi/events and scripts should be executing but they simply.. don't.
I did notice that acpi also did not proce
Public bug reported:
Upgrade from 8.04 results in slow random dimming of LCD display.
ACPI events are being queued and after dimming and then restoring of
screen, the ACPI initiated brightness changes are displayed properly.
The screen seems to dim through all the available levels.
** Affects:
following
sudo ls
Password or swipe finger: [keyboard entered valid unix password]
[sudo] password for yositune: [keyboard entered valid unix password]
success or failure seems random...
gnome-screensaver fails on all but correct fingerprint scans.
logins will generally succeed or fail with both
I think this is related to the "return required to authenticate with
thinkfinger" bug but I didn't find it (wasn't there one??) so if someone
can find it please update and reference.

Pam Authenticaion on X41 Thinkpad with Thinkfinger Broken under 8.10 Intrepid

"try_first_pass" wasn't working but after changing order it seem to
work more consistently.
If we could flag as configuration for deb an d8.10 upgrade on pam.d I
think it's sufficient--otherwise close the bug.
Order should not matter right?? but the below is the working order for
me.
auth[s

associate with desktop session: Failed to connect to socket
/tmp/dbus-9v8gtBkJpB: Connection refused

Recommend setting this bug as high! as it makes use of virtual terminals
impossible without interuppting X Gnome sessions..

The bug was easily reproduced in 8.10 and there were probably 15-20 people
who emailed me personally about it. It seems to be fixed in 9.04..
HOWEVER!!! Now ACPI events (or other) are not working with closing lid and
initiating suspend/sleeps. Also power buttons are not being seen by Gnome
and
It's working fine under 9.-04 but now clsing the lid and suspend is
broken

As a workaround until the patches from the referenced bug make there way
back down, pm-suspend does successfully restore the machine to working
state. Editting /etc/acpi/events/lidbtn to just suspend directly
I can confirm the bug on X41 tablet in everything after the 2.6.28
kernels.
Also note that 2.6.31-10-generic breaks ipw2200 it appears. Filling
separate bug.

Though I'm still experiencing wierdness but havne't had time to look at it
Thanks Christopher. I'll try to get the bios upgraded and see if the
suspend failures abate.
