In the KDE menu, a box is checked on Adept's entry for "run as different user".
This is so that it prompts you for your sudo password. So running adept using

It looks to me like SMAUG requires the package csh in order to run. Try
installing that from the Ubuntu repository. If you still have problems.
However, SMAUG is not an Ubuntu package. This question should go in the

Daniel, I agree with you that it should work the same for the user on
all applications, but I'm not sure who is responsible for making this
sort of decision. This is, in my opinion, against the Ubuntu design
principle of "There should be exactly one recommended way to accomplish
