installer crashed.
I installed it dozens of times last week and there were no crashes.
Using Virtualbox, with 1.7GB RAM.

Yes, the install was bootable. The message about the crash was on the
screen but I could see the progress bar and messages in the installer
still updating. I left the error message on the screen until I was sure
that the install had stopped writing to disk before clicking the button.

It can be enabled as backend for n-m at run time, but n-m needs to be
built with support for it.
iwd is in universe in Cosmic.
It would be good to get this switched on for DD so that we can test and
think about making it the default

When colord starts colord-sane spams the logs with a lot of SNMP stuff.
I spoke to the colord maintainers, and they found that:
chmod -x /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/colord-sane
stopped the spam, as you might expect.

What is the fringe case here?
The desktop team have tested on a variety of different hardware and we can
reproduce this issue every time. I think this is a significant issue for

If I understand correctly, the attack would have to be on a logged in session.
So the attacker would have local access to the machine and the session already.
It is something for careful consideration though. I will loop in the security

I have enabled proposed on a new VM install and updated everything.
grub-pc version installed is 2.02-2ubuntu8.8
I rebooted and observed the same 10 second delay.
I logged back in and ran update-grub for good measure and rebooted - I observed

I saw this today while testing a Cosmic live session without access to
the internet.
I see why this bug happens, if there is no internet connection then
indeed it can't download updates, but the error message is very ugly and
not especially helpful.

Additional information: this only seems to happen on first start up
when there is no internet connection. Subsequent start ups after it has
contact the internet do not show this ugly error message. It fails more
gracefully.

with Adwaita theme instead of Yaru when in the live session. This seems
to resolve itself when used in the real session.
