I had the same problem with upgrading my Ubuntu studio 9.04 box from
command prompt to Karmic Koala. I did use the server edition installer.
Got around it opening up a second terminal session by shutting down
apache and ebox en starting them up again. After that the upgrade
continued:

I reverted to Ubuntu 11.04 and had to install lame seperately to solve
this is. Maybe there was something wrong in the install proces. I
reverted on 3 laptop en 2 got out fine while 1 did not get lame
installed. Is there anyway of this at the end of an install? Because my

I' ve got around this bug in the end. Some time ago I removed two of the
user accounts from the laptop. All I had to do is add the previous
existing users and deinstalled wicd, upgrade ubuntu to 10.4 and install
wicd again. The configuration of my existing WIFI connection was still
there. I suppose
