after re - installing version 1:019-1, WIFI works also with the actual version
1:019-1!
Nevertheless, I have sent the output of "ubuntu-bug firmware-b43-installer"
when using the most recent version of b43.
The only relevant changes I may have made (since filing the bug)

using kernel 3.18-rc2-vivid (or any other 3.18 kernel published so far!) in
lubuntu-14.10 x86 32bit the machine does not come up correctly. In particular,

After finishing booting, there are the following problems and observations:
-boot process takes unusually long,
-horizontal task bar is missing,

/var/cache/apt/archives/lxpanel_0.7.2-1ubuntu1_i386.deb (see #4)
did not help in my case, but
dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/lxpanel-
data_0.7.2-1ubuntu1_all.deb
indeed solved the problem -> the lxde desktop works properly again!
