On validating step 2 Ubiquity hangs. Possibly there is a problem with
how Gparted works here.
If some partitions are mounted there is the usual prompt to unmount
though (Y,N = same result)
Since I had no issue with the same install procedure on a netbook

none of which is clean (but one already has Precise on it).

After upgrading to version 11 last week Firefox wouldn't work (as described in
original question): launch ok but typing url and pressing return or clicking
green 'go' button in the address bar doesn't work. Impossible to use bookmarks
either: Firefox Sync down.

Add-ons page is taking forever to open with Forefox upgraded to v11 (ABP
previously disabled). Only Catalogue tab visible on the left column and
loading loop on the right.

I found the culprit: I had the Bindwood 1.04 add-on still up from
previous configuration (I think it was linked to stand-alone versions of
Firefox Sync, then known as the Weave add-on).

I used usb-creator yesterday to try ubuntu 11.04-beta1 (32bit). After
successful creation of the bootable device I unmounted the volume and even
chose safely remove after.
After I removed the USB stick, Nautilus still displays /dev/loop0 as File 732MB
(ubuntu-11.04-beta1-i386.iso).

Reproduced today after using usb-creator to test an ubuntu-based distro
(elementary 0.1, based on maverick 32bit).
Request formatting of the ejected volume, listed in nautilus with the distro
name, prompts an error message
Error creating partition table: helper exited with exit code 1: BLKRRPART
