So, on previous installs of ubuntu, David's solution has worked for me.
(previous versions: hardy64, intrepid64, netbook-remix-lpia) but it's
just stopped working on my latest install (intrepid i386 + netbook-
remix).
gconf-editor reports as expected - that stickykeys_two_key_off is
unticked, and
Stickykeys in KDE works as one would expect, and retains it's settings - but
the status notification panel applet hasn't been ported to KDE4 yet. So you
can use stickykeys but you can't tell what state they're in. Which is actually
worse.
Currently running Mint 6, which is basically a theme

sometimes black.
Previews of screen caps in program look fine, it's only on output that
it fails.

2.22.1-0ubuntu2 on Hardy x64, fully up to date (as far as apt knows,
anyway - the repo is reporting 2.22.1-0ubuntu2 as the most up to date

very slow. Disk Utility reports the various drives I've tried are
connected at 480Mb/s, but it's rare to see transfers faster than
60-70Mb/s at best. Sometimes I get the first 300MB very fast followed

I installed that kernel from here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/daily/ it's an Ubuntu build.
This machine has only ever had Precise on it. For the last few years
I've been using mostly Debian, but I ended up with Ubuntu because Debian
(for some reason) couldn't control the fan.
Sure thing. Transfers still very slow in Lucid, although interestingly
Nautilus reports it slightly differently - I get a really fast progress
bar all the way, which stalls at 100% for the remaining time.. I had a
stopwatch going, so I know the transfers were taking the same time as in
Precise.
possibly worth mentioning that the ports on this machine are all USB3.0,
but the drives I've tried with are 2.0. I don't have any USB3.0 devices
to test with.

I have (I think) the same issue on my Toshiba Satellite L830-114.
Suspend appears to work for a second or two, then you're taken to the
lock/resume screen (even if lock on suspend is disabled)
Latest mainline kernel, 3.5.0-rc7, suspends correctly but then won't
resume.

can use it, but if you lose track of which keys are locked/latched, it's
really tricky to find out what's going on. I have in the past been

Just to be clear, I wasn't reporting a bug in AccessX Status, I was
reporting an access issue with Unity. The comparison with AccessX
Status was just to highlight what appears to be missing in Unity.
So, no offence, but I'm changing this back away from invalid, as the
issue does still exist.

Yup, that worked. Also fixed the problem where my Unity launcher
wouldn't remember launchers I'd put in it.
Something in unity should probably start depending on libdconf0, I
suppose.

This is a critical bug for those of us who rely on stickykeys.
Yes, I'm aware there is a workaround by using Gnome 2.x, Classic or

Stickykeys work - as far as I can tell - 100% fine in Maverick, at least
for the way I use them. Settings are remembered, mouse clicks are
events, etc.

password to unlock the machine.
"Lock screen when screensaver is active" is unticked. Screen is still
locked.
"Activate screensaver when computer is idle" is unticked, but screen

Done a little more looking into this. Screen blanks by power management
(ie, lid open, no key/mouse input for five minutes) don't cause lock to
activate.
Suspend-->Resume (ie, close laptop lid, wait, re-open) does cause screen
to lock.
