I gave up vinagre and came across Grdc. I think it should replace
vinagre. It's now in Ubuntu universal repository already, and the web
site is offering .deb download for the latest version. It supports color
depth and compress quality which vinagre doesn't have.

Seems I can't connect only when Vino encryption is set to require. Not
sure what this encryption mean, maybe a special extension that only work
between vinagre and vino?

Any body affected by this bug could try to compile rdesktop from latest
SVN? Looks like there were related fixes upstream but rdesktop haven't
get a release version for a very long time.

The latest Grdc, now called Remmina, can connect to vino, even
require_encryption is set to true.
