Purging
apt-get remove --purge nvidia*
and doing number #30 worked for me
apt-get install nvidia-driver-390

nvidia-390 fails to boot g
There was no output. I fixed the issue some times ago by manually
installing python3-distro-info. The cause of the error was that I have
uninstalled python packages installed by pip
