Ubuntu installer mounts any existing swap partition upon boot - in my

The active swap partition prevents the kernel from rereading the

apt-get autoremove not removing old kernels when package

There are no dependencies that would prevent removing these old kernel
versions when trying to remove them manually:

The last comment of mine regarding "official xenial repository" is wrong
- I installed virtualbox from the virtualbox.org provided repository.
The virtualbox package from virtualbox.org has
Recommends: [...] module-init-tools, linux-headers-generic | linux-

I might have found the cause: bug #1472351
This seems to be the case for my issue with virtualbox and might be the
case for bug #1605160 (he has ZFS installed which might have a
Recommends tag on linux-headers or linux-image, too).

Hi Mitchell,
the application - for now - needs PHP 7.4 but the dev says it should be
possible to make it compatible with 8.1.
Will report back when it's running with 8.1 from the official Ubuntu

Hi,
I just used my workaround script on the server that has this issue and
put the issue aside in my head because of only me being affected - until
now.
Just checked the cron mails and it seems it doesn't occur every day:
at 0:00 each day apache reload does happen via cron.daily
at 2:00 each day
