Found the problem: Ubuntu installer mounts any existing swap partition upon boot - in my case /dev/sda6. The active swap partition prevents the kernel from rereading the partition table after the installer modified it. Workaround: Before starting installation change to text console via ALT+CTR

Hi, I just used my workaround script on the server that has this issue and put the issue aside in my head because of only me being affected - until now. Just checked the cron mails and it seems it doesn't occur every day: at 0:00 each day apache reload does happen via cron.daily at 2:00 each day
