Well, here we are (2) major releases later and it is still a problem.
Specifically, there is no symlin
I would say a huge help at this point would put to put in your Ubuntu
CD, select "memory test" and let it run. It will take a long time so do
it at night. Then let us know if your memory checks out.

This doesn't sound like a Ubuntu bug. At any rate, boot into f8
safemode and see where that gets you. Also it would be helpful to hear
how you are installing it, with more specifics.

fd0 is the floppy disk, those can base safely ignored. One thing to
always check before trying to install Ubuntu is run the "check install

close this, but if you run into another one please just open a new

I think the behavior I'm seeing is very similar, but slightly different
from the bugzilla.gnome.org bug. The upstream bug report was that if you
change the image in-place, the desktop background does not change. Now,
I've always had this problem, and believe it should be fixed. However, I

I'm encountering a similar bug on a Lenovo T60 laptop with a Radeon

I'm experiencing the same issue with Vim on Fedora 7. However, I only
get the issue if I'm running Vim inside of Gnome Terminal. If I run Vim
in xterm, the control+cursor keys move by word, as expected.

I'll second this. Absolutely unable to build a Ubuntu kernel from
scratch using linux-source-2.6.20_2.6.20-16.29 source package.
Damn annoying. And, yes, I'm following the fine instructions to the
letter:

Can confirm this package exists in universe. Probably needs to be moved
to wishlist. As feisty 7.04.1 will probably not be released, or
atleast not for sometime, the workaround is to download the packages
onto a CD from somewhere. Check out: http://aptoncd.sourceforge.net/

We are sorry for your frustration, but as you were not involved in
development at any point, and pptp required by default install is a
fringe case (< 1%) I don't know how we would have figured that out.
This bug is a great start to getting this included for Gutsy, so you are
on the right track.
