I've noticed this as well. However, you can still copy text in the main viewing
area by highlighting the text with your mouse and pressing Ctrl and C at the
same time.
However, the author of liferea noted (back in 2007) that they will not
devote time to add this feature.

I received the same error as well.
I have attached the output that I received when I started up songbird in
the terminal.
However, I think the problem may be on songbird's side because songbird
is trying to use the gstreamer plugins provided by songbird instead of
using the ones already installed
