I have tried this as well. Running MSI K9N SLI Platinum motherboard with AMD 64 Dual Core Processor. 2.6.29 will boot with acpi=off. However please note that 2.6.28 would also boot in this way *sometimes*. For the past few weeks I have been booting with "nolapic" which is not ideal as I effectiv
