I've recently done a bit of work on that, with a very recent version,
you can set IS_LAPTOP=True at the top of powermanage.py. This is a
workaround to allow powermanager to run, even if HAL reports that the
machine is not a laptop (in which case it exits by default).
The reason why I did that was
I'm also asking myself if we shouldn't use the hwdata package (which
brings the MonitorsDB file with it). Guidance ships the same file (but
I'm unsure if not the hwdata version is used anyway.)
In any case, it probably makes more sense to file this bug against the
hwdata package. The guidance team

thing:
- It resumes
- idle time is high because during suspend it had not been reset
- It sees we're not on battery, checks if idle time is higher than set in the

If I check how much memory is in use when running power-manager and compare it
to the amount used when I just stopped it, I only see a difference of 4
MegaByte.
VmSize and VmRSS are taking usually are a pretty poor tool to measure memory
consumption.

Same problem here with a Macbook Pro 8,1. Updated from Ubuntu 13.04 to
13.10. Black wallpaper during the first five or six minuts.

Szczepan, I don't see how a snarky comment of yours is going to motivate
anyone to put their time into this. I for one have removed myself from
