I have this bug too it's very annoying. I have to turn compiz off when I want
to use abiword.

I have already tried that with abiword 2.6.8 from the sources and it
don't seems that it solve anything, I'll try it again. Have you used the
repository proposed in the install wiki or have you done like me with

It is caused by compiz, when you disable it you won't have this issue anymore.
It seems not to be limited to firefox or opera.
In my case I have also this issue with rythmbox.
I don't have it under gedit or openoffice.
I have this issue on my samsung NC10 and also on a desktop computer with
an N
I downloaded the skype .deb for Ubuntu and I have Gdebi-gtk to crach
everytime I run it.
To answer the previous comment it don't seems that I have any package
called python-apt on my system.
