Actually there is such an option, just at another place.
When you right click on the file and go to properties, there is a tab called
"Open with"
it lists a number of applications and you can choose one and click on "Set as
default".

I found the solution to this problem. It seems LibreOffice is not installed
completely. Went to the Software Center and found that Writer, Impress and Calc
are shown as installed, but not Base and also not LibreOffice as a whole. I
installed LibreOffice and it downloaded some 400 MB. Now Labels
I've tried the workaround with CUPS-PDF, but still have the lines.

I fixed it by removing the amdgpu dkms package.
First check with dkms status to identify the packages.
There were two packages for two different kernels.
Removed them with:
sudo dkms remove amdgpu/6.2.4-1664922.22.04 --all
Then was able to successfully install kernel:
6.8.0-49-generic #49-Ubuntu
