I guess I have figured out how to solve the problem. After I have removed
~/.compiz, ~/.config/compiz*, ~/.gconf* and rebboted, my system works like a

This is a bug against stable essex. I have made no attempt to determine
if this is still a problem in Folsom at this stage.
During a sprint this week we took a nova region which was previously
relatively idle and started turning up large numbers of instances using
juju. We
I think the issue here is that nova.virt.firewall.py
IptablesFirewallDriver.instance_rules() is calling
get_instance_nw_info() which is causing rpcs to be fired off
_while_still_holding_the_iptables_lock. I suspect that the rpcs need to
happen outside the lock.
