I have the same problem also since 8.04 when I started using Ubuntu.
I've tried different distro's, flash drives and even PCs that I could
get access to at work (all on intel chipsets). it's rather impossible to
use usb as it doesn't work normally and i am confused of such
limitations.The worst i

this doesn't help for my situation also. when copying by filezilla first 50mb
are copied quite fast, but after that great slowdown as if it was copied from
hdd.

June 2011. After opening ANY video file VLC displays it for about 3-4
minutes, after that swapping starts and PC hangs, only hardware reset
