i picked up this same issue today ..
trying to update via terminal, it stops with:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure
-a' to correct the problem.
then tried in update manager and got the same message.
output in terminal of:
~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
Settin

this seems possibly a duplicate, but other marked invalid, so i'm filing
new
trying to update in terminal gives error:
