I made a clean install of Ubuntu 13.04, then installed gnome-shell and
gdm, added GNOME3 team PPA and upgraded. The Keyboard Layout Indicator
is still absent.

Creating a Launcher with name Computer and command "nautilus
computer://" really fixes it. The Gnome developers recommended this
command instead of "nautilus /". For more, check my bug report - above.

Another strange behaviour occurs when I do the following:
1. Install Ubuntu 13.04
2. Add the Gnome3 team PPA
3. Install Gnome shell
Then what happens is that the Keyboard Layout Indicator shows up, but it's not
functional. It doesn't accept more than the two languages that I have chosen at
the b
NO fix for this bug so far, even using GNOME 3 ppa does not fix it! Why
does it take so freaking long? It's not a kernel bug, why in the world
does it take so long to fix it?

Upgrading to 13.04, then adding the ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3-staging to
the repo list, updating and upgrading again made the Keyboard Layout
Indicator reappear. Thank you for the fix!

would one do that? It's been always "ru", and for Romanian "ro". The
Russian Keyboard is also non-functional.

only one is working (the "Romanian" one, not the "Romanian Standard",

After several restarts I can switch the Layouts from the Indicator. But
there is no valid Layout for "Romanian Standard", "Romanian Cedilla",

the Gnome 3 PPA repo. The keyboard layout indicator does not show up in the top

FWIW, the other icons are visible on the Desktop, it's the Computer icon
that disappeared. Why? Nautilus 3.6 has Computer standing for "File
System" (the "/" thing), unlike the earlier releases - see this link
