I'm also running Jaunty Beta 1 on a Dell inspiron and it also beeps
every time I turn my laptop off. IT also beeps when I'm using gvim. It
really takes from the experience of using ubuntu and is something that
definitely needs to be fixed before the official release

right click the clock and go to preferences the clock resets itself to
the correct time.

I connected empathy by using my google voice account by using the gizmo5
number. I followed the instructions from this site and I was able to
make one call. But after that I wasn't able to make any calls. There
wasn't any notification that a call was coming in or that there was an
error.

I can't login into kde-plasmoid, but I was able to log into the console
and look at the ".xsession-errors" file.

I believe what caused this issue is I added the "ATI/AMD proprietary
FGLRX graphics driver" in "Additional Drivers" application and then
removed it. I don't think it removed it properly.
I can now log into kubuntu because I reinstalled fglrx with "apt-get
