When I slide my keyboard tray in, the top of keys gets bumped. Holding down
the key for not very long at all spawns so many processes of
xfce4-screenshooter, my system nearly locks. Holding it down for about 1.5 secs

I use a KVM switch, and this 1024x768 LCD is all I've used with machine.
If the KVM isn't set to the ubuntu channel, X commits to a default value
that isn't compatible with this monitor. Maybe it's not a bug, but X
should use the last known working

Is this an appropriate place to ask the counter-question, I thought
ubuntu was trying to get away from xorg.conf, and that's why the new
conf looks like a dummy file.

In the name of reproducibility, I popped in the Xubuntu 9.04 live cd,
and did the following.
ubu...@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install Xnest Xdmx

I am also having the same issue, mdadm raid 5 (no lvm). Mine is compounded by
the fact that the screen is entirely purple... if I reboot while booting and it
asks me to choose a kernel, I see the screen 'boot degraded y/n' and then
drops to the busybox shell. Interacting with the purple screen
