I just realized that I google takes you to the 9.10 documentation for
hibernate/suspend, and the "quirk checker" tool no longer exists, so I
will not be running it.

Search google for "ubuntu hibernate"
(http://www.google.com/search?q=ubuntu+hibernate) and the first result
is entitled "Suspending and Hibernating your computer" but it's easy to
miss the fact that it is 9.10 documentation,

This happens exactly to me, and mine is an ALPS device as well. Vertical
side scrolling doesn't work, and after suspend, pointer is erratic,
clicking is erratic, all kinds of problems. I haven't tried holding
control, will next time.

I have this problem too, installer failed while the partitioner was going
(thankfully no data was lost -- looks like gparted finished the job). I was
asked to post some files, but I had no idea how to do it.
Computer is a P3, 733 MHz, 512 MB ram.
If the installer can't safely perform the function
Drawing programs have had this functionality since the dawn of time.
gpaint isn't that useful without it.

The dialog still isn't very fast. At least with a timer the computer
will still shutdown even if you walk away before seeing a warning
message, but you can also change your mind. Why keep people from adding
it back?
