where i use beryl all the time though and it works well.

same thing happens with beryl.
here's what happens when i try to start beryl-manager:

i have found that i can start beryl and run it with all the cool options and
window decorators if i do it like this:
#starts up beryl, with no window decorations
beryl display :0 &
#starts up the window decorations
emerald --replace &
but running beryl-manager still consistently starts up beryl w

i used the fix in #13 and my lenovo x1 sd card reader works now.
before, i got stuff like this in /var/syslog:
