The Default scripts located in
/etc/gdm/PostLogin/
/etc/gdm/PreSession/
/etc/gdm/PostSession/
are not triggered by gdm upon login and/or logout. This prevents custom
session scripts from being executed, and is a regression from previous

I'm running Hardy Heron 8.04.1 with all the latest updates. My version
of gdm is 2.20.7-0ubuntu1.1. Where appropriate, I've renamed the files
to Default instead of Default.sample, and granted them +x as well.
No luck.

I'm using Intrepid on my laptop and I have an uncommon problem: My soundcard
works properly during the livecd install session and subsequent boots, but if
I, god forbid, update my system, the soundcard won't work properly anymore. All
I get is a crackling soun
I like the generic approach. The user's first name, properly
capitalized, is a pretty good solution, as it's not misleading nor
cryptic. No unfamiliar terms whatsoever, and if their name is there,
then it must be their area. It's kind of intuitive.
It's also a nice bridge between the Windows world

Turns out /bin/sh symlinks to /bin/dash, a strict POSIX-compliant
minimalist shell from Debian. My scripts were expecting bash, and none
of them were being triggered for this reason. Problem solved.

I agree, the documentation for this particular feature is confusing. I
was trying to figure out exactly in which ways the "Save" feature
differs from the fairly common "Snapshot" feature available in other
virtualization solutions, and still remained confused. The suggested
wording is clearer. And
Christian, I've tried acpi=off and it does not solve the problem. It
will crash as randomly and frequently as before.
