still no luck for me. i have ath5k for a wifi driver on the .27 kernel,
and tried the above with/without unloading ath5k (didn't include
iwl3945).

i also didn't get anything resembling a module on my dmesg trace.
nonetheless, here it is. i had read elsewhere that the problem is due
to ram timing or something else beyond my comprehension, rather than a
hanging module.

I was able to narrow the problem down to the file
"servicetype_profilerc" in the ~/.kde/share/config/ directory. Deleting
the file solved the problem.
