I had this problem on a Asus Z53Sseries notebook, too. Since a kernel
update in ubuntu 8.10 this behaviour is gone. I currently use ubuntu
9.04 and everything is fine there.

Same issue here after upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04. Compiz works fine if
I start it manually, but isn't retained after reboot.
Workaround: adding "compiz --replace" to autostart. This wasn't
necessary in 8.10.

Even though mp3 is not officially supported I think it's very bad that this bug
is not fixed for over two (2!!) years.
I understand the reasons to not officially support mp3 but it's a
quasi-standard in the digital world.

Do you mean that you can't access this format now or you will not be

Maybe you should think about releasing a version which just uses the
search engines from firefox. At least for me this would be enough. :-)

You can reproduce this if you drag & drop two items from one menu to
another without waiting for the refresh which needs about 1 second. With
"refresh" I mean: view changes to the menu where the item was moved to.
For example if I move an item from menu "wine" to menu "games" the list

I go through the same proplem like sibs since I upgraded to karmic. Same
symptoms: fan at high speed after a few minutes, critical temperature
under full load, e.g. encoding with Avidemux, shutdown. Last night I had
this problem although CPU was thottled down to 800MHz instead of maximum
2.2GHz!

Unfortunatly Sidux uses a modified kernel as far as I know. So there are
multiple possibilities where the bug could be:
a) Vanilla kernel (fixed by a Sidux-specific patch)
b) Ubuntu setup (no kernel bug)

The proposed workaround to create the mmx64.efi in /EFI/BOOT/ doesn't
work for me.
Does anybody know, which efi variable has been created by the installer,
that triggers the wrong boot process in the usb drive? In this case,
deleting or editing it, would be an option to try.
