I have this same annoying issue. Its terrible to a linux distro that want to be
to "Human Beans".
As many of users does not have knowledgement to do some "terminal stuff" I
think this bug is, at least, Critical. It's a show stopper bug.
BTW, nm-applet works much better.

FYI, I've updated the package to the latest version available
(6.12.99+git20090825.fc74e119-0ubuntu2) and everything worked well.
The only point is a power management issue when I switch from VT to X. If my
laptop is working without AC plugged in, my screen bright goes to the lowest
level.

I have this problem with the latest Karmic packages
Package: libxine1
Version: 1.1.16.3-0ubuntu4
I could not play downloaded flv video files through xine.
using mplayer or vlc works perfectly

Workaround to install is to uninstall ubiquity slideshow
sudo apttitude purge ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu ubiquity-slideshow

The suspend to ram proceeds normally, but during the resume my wireless light
goes on and then off and my laptop freezes, not responding to any of keys.
