I was applying a normal patch update.
the update was proceeding normally when the patch seemed to apply my
"patched nvidia drivers" during upgrade - my screen went black and then
seemed to hang. i hit the power switch after waiting some time, and a
"shutdown" broadcast message appeared (typical o
FWIW- I NEVER had samba installed, when I rec'd the error while
updating.

Symptoms are the same as #1508146 (but I'm not sure it's the same
cause).
alt+left/right sends me to another tty (terminal shell). Although I'm still
trying to determine if its window manager / keymapper kind of issue or what. I
use ubuntu because I don't typically like to get to this level.

Upgraded from 11.10. During install I unticked the download updates
while installing. Initial install complained about not being able to
upgrade all packages.
Once upgraded 'finished' -- I rebooted and logged into Ubuntu.
* Installed synaptic package manager.
* Added canonical partner repo

The documentation is pretty limited but suggests testdrive will work
with either KVM or Virtualbox. I have Virtualbox installed and working
well.
I'm on Natty 11.04 with current updates. I installed testdrive
(3.14-0ubuntu1~ppa4) as follows:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tes
should have mentioned /etc/testdriverc is not created / does not exist.
also doesnt seem to create
~/.cache/testdrive or ~/.testdriverc/
