In fact I think you didn't choose the right driver for this remote, it
is supposed to use the devinput driver not the lirc_i2c dev_lirc drivers

Have a fresh Ubuntu 16.04 LTS install. "Connect to Server" in nautilus
with ssh, sftp, nsf, dav, really anything I can think of gives "This
file server type is not recognized." Error message appears as soon as :
is entered, e.g. "ssh:".

That is what I was afraid of.
dmesg -w does not report anything new when I get the error message. Any
other way of reporting syslog that would be helpful?

yup! that did it, after reboot. you are the best!
Strange that this was not installed by default with 16.04. As I said, I
did a clean install. At any rate. Thanks!

Totally my fault! Now I remember, when I first installed 16.04 I removed
it as it was chewing up CPU time and battery and it was not clear to me
for what it is needed. Now I know what I need it for! Sorry to have
burdened you. It is well behaved now though.

Hi,
On Xenial, neither manual nor automatic tools can connect to an intermediary AP
(TPLINK TL-WR702N).
Ipv6 is disabled by kernel commandline. It worked fine on 12.04
uname -a output: Linux 4.4.0-21-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP 2016
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

I disabled ufw entirely and rebooted for effect: no change.
I prevented avahi-daemon from using ipv6: no effect
My AP is a WR702N, with a new firmware from 2016, I converted it to a
router, no effect whatsoever (symptoms are the same: cannot event ping
the device even in static ip)
dhclient
I tied a kernel 4.3 (it was compiled for trusty though, but my machine
worked fine under it): no change.
I compiled and installed isc-dhcp 4.1 -ESVR13 from source and used it
manually with wpa_supplicant : no change.

I have a similar problem. As an workarround I changed the order of the
thermal devices in the thermald configuration:
gedit /etc/thermald/thermal-cpu-cdev-order.xml
cpufreq
rapl_controller
intel_pstate
Processor
intel_powerclamp
I tested with the following orders, both woked fine
Christopher, I havent used that machine in quite a while so I am not
sure weather it is still an issue, although, I will upgrade it to
precise for testing on its hardware.
