thank u jean the problem was exactly what u said. i was trying to
install from local media , i removed the installation source from local
media to online repository and i am done.

all available updates through the update manager. I got two updates for the
linux kernel 2.6.31. After the update i tried to access the you tube video in

yes i have tried to modify the default GRUB file to enable my graphics card in
the line
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="radeon.modeset=1" like this
then save it

thanks for the help your solution solved my problem and everything is
fine with grub now .But i am facing one problem after editing the file
as per your instruction the GRUB is fine when i load it through it
display the options and then when i select my ubuntu image to boot it
goes in to text mode
