i'm having the same issue: no indicator applet for network
when i start System -> Preferences -> Network Connections i don't see
any connections even though i'm connected. i did the steps mentioned in:

when i do Enrico Sardi steps then "ifupdown (eth0)" is called "Auto eth0", i
can edit it and have to set the addresses again (of course). the connections
are also listed as "Used: never"(?).
still no indicator applet.

same issue here. "grub loading." stays for a while, then i get "error: biosdisk

it appears that "speaker volume" was set to 0%, which is hidden in Sound
Preferences
=>

$ alsamixer -c1

$ sudo apt-get install alsamixer

it was working for me in 9.10 x64 Alt but not in 10.04 x64 Alt
using 10.04 x64 Desktop Live it works however
