I use Ubuntu Intrepid and when I set the brightness with Fn+Up or
Fn+Down the progress bar goes all the way up (or down) as if the keys
were stuck then. The brightness changes as desired but I can no longer
input any text from the keyboard or clicks from the mouse/touchpad.

I can confirm this. I'm using a Dell Studio 15 with Intel X3100. Compiz
runs just fine. When I started Google Earth it complained about falling
back to software accelerated OpenGL and it runs a bit slugish. If I

Tried setting it in Amarok, in Kaffeine... but nothing. It's set to 6 channels
in alsamixer though... but as I said they have no effect over volume or things

originally had a ~/.gnome2/eog file. just because you said eog
directory, i created a ~/.gnome2/eog/ directory and that seems to have
fixed the problem. it wasn't a permissions problem, it was because eog
was a file, not a directory. creating the directory seems to work. i'll

Every other application that resides in the system tray (or whatever it

The crash is related to new mail notification when using the "Tango
Icons for Thunderbird" theme.
If you navigate to Edit > Preferences > General and uncheck "Show an

What I did was downloaded the mplayer cvs package from the Devede site. I
extracted the files "mplayer" and "mencoder" from it, and replaced the ones in

I too found myself in situations like this. I think it's because the mirrors.
When I was using the romanian mirrors as repos, it happened very often. It's
very frustrating as you have to manually fix the problem every time this
happens.
How about first synching the packages, and only after that
