By the way I do have a odd screen behavior on the latest karmic, but I
doubt it has anything to do with this bug fix. The odd behavior is that

I haven't been able to find a way to get inotify to tell which process
is causing file access, I took a quick glance at "man inotifywait". But
I am not experienced in inotify - I can see it would be very usefull for
this situation, so let me know if you find a way to use inotify.

The problem still exists. However my cable tv provider has removed the
channels that the system was able to find, so now it can't find any
channels.
I will be moving in a couple of days, and wont have cable tv in the
future, so I will not be able to do further testing.
