totem player crashes kernel

I used to use the official supported LTS Ubuntu Trusty 3.13 kernel line.
With current updates.
I didn't noticed which subversion started to affect kernel panic after Totem
player. May be several months.
I tried to stress several times some kernels by Total Player (play,
seek, switch playlist..

Battery tray indicator does not change actual status in a real time. It changes
only after reboot. And still unchanged until next reboot. Nothing affects it,
nor draining, nor charging.
But restarting the indicator-power from terminal triggers a status update!

May be it is the same issue so still affects Ubuntu 14.04.1.
updatedb.mlocate uses 100% of the hdd IO. Not for an hour but 5-15 minutes.
At the same time wasting all memory and active swapping.
