I have the same problem, LAME is fine though, as I can get perfect MP3s
using the lame command on WAV files!
Sounds like the wrong parameters or file are being passed to Lame!

Public bug reported:
When I attempt to connect my Jaybird Bluebuds X to Ubuntu 16.04
pulseaudio crashes, this does *NOT* happen with a Jambox which leads me
to believe it's an intermittent problem with some hardware. This did not
happen on Ubuntu 15.10 (which was an upgrade of 15.04).

For those who can't wait for this to be back ported into Vivid, you can
grab libtimezone 0.4.4 for Wily and install it. I'm yet to see any ill
effects from doing this. If you're more paranoid, recompiling is also an
option.

The only infra red device on this laptop is the receiver for the remote
control. I don't think that should be affecting this.
Next time it happens (probably later tonight), I'll attach a wired
mouse, but I think the issues will remain.
After that, I'll try blacklisting the wacom driver and seeing
Bug still occurs when a wired mouse is attached. I'll disable the Wacom
driver now and see if the bug occurs tomorrow
Cheers

Looks like it's the touchscreen driver. After disabling the Wacom module
didn't do anything, I disabled the hid-ntrig one, which stopped the
touchscreen working, and since then the bug seems to have disappeared.
How do I go about filing a bug for that, will this one just be

This could be related to an issue i'm having. GTK3 applications are, for
no apparent reason, highlighting text, moving sliders, when i put my
mouse of them. Can't find any other posts about it, but this seems the
closest. I don't know where to start bug reporting this one, as it's not

I too request an update on this issue, though for me, the bug can happen
on cold boot too, but it seems to be the same error message. (That is,
if the ATI drivers haven't completely blocked the text from showing on
boot!)
But exists on 11.10 Alpha 3 too, even when booting from the live CD.

Just to add, I have no idea how to log this problem, as when the Kernel
panics it seems to make the file system read only, and most of the
message has scrolled off the top of the screen when the crash occurs
