It happens to me also. I'm using ibm thinkpad t61 which has a NVIDIA
card.
I'm using ubuntu 11.10 and compiz. gnome-terminal stops repainting once
a while, I have to trigger repainting manually through resizing the
window.

Does it work on the marvick release?
I tried these packages and they required an out of dated version of
binutils.
