Had same problem, no right click on desktop, no icons showing.

I erased ~/.compiz and ~/.gconf/app/compiz
Did not fixed.
I'm not sure if deleting those directories helped fix the problem.
But procedure after doing that, did.

I agree this should be implemented, I have a new mouse and has the same
issue and is not a cheap mouse. If there is a patch that works should be
considered.

Ping, will report all packets lost all the time, only works for ping to
localhost
Tracerout : IP column has the information for time instead of the IPs
and time column has other information.
History select is always blank, does not saves a
Maybe I did not express correctly, there is a selection field that says
Network Address, and has a pull down menu. It is always blank. Example
in the attached image.
I thought it collected the previous addresses used to ping or trace
route, for quick access. But it doesn't.
